Feature & Follow Friday #14
"The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read."
Q: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?
I really hate not finishing a book, I usually keep going or at least skim if it's really bad.
But lately I've had so many books to read that I've had to DNF a couple of bad ones. I feel bad, but there are just too many great books out there to waste my time reading something I'm not enjoying.
Thank you so much for stopping by - you can follow me by Bloglovin (preferred) or Twitter

I've done both but lately with reading more, I'll DNF if it's not working for me. Time is valuable!
ReplyDeleteSo true! My limited reading time is so precious to me it seems a shame to waste it on something I'm not enjoying
DeleteFor me, I just don't have time to power through a book I don't like. There's way too many books on my TBR to waste time with a book I'm not enjoying even a little bit.

I think time is a huge factor in DNFing a book. As bloggers we have so many review books to read + books I want to read for myself!
DeleteI feel so bad when I have to abandon a book! New follower :)

Yeah, it does feel really horrible to DNF a book, considering all the hard work the author has put into it
DeleteIt's so bad when books are so predictable that you can read the first chapter, a random middle chapter, and the last chapter and still understand 90% of the plot. I've resorted to skimming books a lot, but I hate writing reviews for those because I feel like I cheated the system.

Yeah I know what you mean - it feels unfair to to author. But I always make a note of it in my reviews if I did skim. That way it's up to the readers weather or not they want to listen to my opinion of the book ;)
DeleteI usually try to finish the books, but sometimes you just can't!

Yep, sadly those rare books are just too hard to power through on :(
DeleteThere are way to many books out there to read! I completely agree :) New Bloglovin follower!

DeleteBlog lovin follower.
ReplyDeleteI have been lucky not to get any bad books....yet...except one.
Wow, that is lucky! Or maybe your just not as picky as I am ;)
DeleteI DNF sometimes, but I don't review them. :/ I'm one of this week's featured bloggers! www.themilelongbookshelf.com
ReplyDeleteCongrats Amber :) Yeah I prefer not to review a DNF book either - doesn't seem fair to the author
DeleteNew Follower, keep going :)

I always try to skim before DNFing a book in the hope that it gets better :)
DeleteI'm exactly the same! I have so many different books to read that if I don't like one...onto the DNF pile it goes!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!

Say but true isn't it? But at least there is always another book to pick up :)
DeleteUsually I will give it 50-100 pages but it has to be fast-paced to keep my interest. I just don't have the time to power through anymore. I'm picky about what I read though so only have 1 DNF so far, !

Yeah I'm pretty picky too before I pick up a book, so luckily there aren't too many books that I have to DNF :)
DeleteGreat response. I'm already following through Bloglovin so I just followed on Twitter. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following on Twitter Krystianna :)
DeleteI feel the same way Amy. And I have had a few books where I've skimmed through, because I feel guilty about not finishing books! But you're right. Who has time to waste when we have so many other books to review?!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier chica!

There are so many great books out there now, especially from some of the lesser known indie authors, that skimming has become a little more common than it used to be for me. But at least there is always another book on the TBR pile :)
DeleteI feel so much better now that I know I'm not the only one skimming :)
