Exciting beginning to a mystery romance serial!
REVIEW:
The story:
This is the first episode of a 3 part serial following hard working hotel heiress, Hannah Wellesley. On the brink of taking over the reins of the hotel Hannah has one night of crazy fun, hooking up with a mysterious masked man at The Annual Mask Gala. But months on and she's unable to forget that night of passion with the stranger she has never been able to find. Trying to move on she meets up with new chef, Carter who may or may not be her mysterious man. Also entering the scene is fellow heir to the Wellesly-Crawford Hotel, Trent Crawford. Both bring their own secrets and it's unclear what their real motivations might be.
The characters:
Hannah has always done the right thing. She's hard working, passionate and very good at her job. But she's yet to find that one man to give her heart to. That one night of reckless passion, has opened her eyes to something exciting and she's determined to feel that excitement again.
Trent Crawford appears to be the typical arrogant heir. He's cocky and is used to getting what he wants. He could sometimes come across as a bit of an ass, but I personally believe that's a bit of a cover, and we are yet to see the 'real' Trent - the one that 17 year old Hannah remembers.
Carter is a little mysterious, we don't really know that much about him yet, but he's kind and seems to really like Hannah.
The romance:
We have a bit of the makings of a love triangle here. Carter is new in Hannah's life and he brings something fresh and exciting. On the other hand, Hannah has known Trent all her life and they have 'history'. I have to admit I'm very much #TeamTrent!
The writing:
I really loved the writing format Elizabeth used with Hannah's POV telling the majority of the story and a few chapters told by 'Him', the mysterious man. We can assume that it's either Carter or Trent, and it's so exciting trying to pick the clues and guess who it is and whether or not they are the 'good' or 'bad' character!
FINAL WORD:
Exciting beginning to a mystery romance serial! Can't wait for episode #2…go #TeamTrent!!!

I can't exactly explain it, but something about this books and in particular the heroine, spoke to me. I also love a sweet 'good guy' hero, and Alec is that and so so much more. He's an intelligent, nerdy, sweet caring man and he is one my all time favourite Book BFs!

Path Of Destruction is filled with overwhelming grief and pain, but leaves you with a sense of hope that the future can be brighter for all the characters.
So I have decided to write a SPOILER FREE review for this book, which means I am very limited in what I can say. I'm not going to mention any specific characters as that will obviously reveal who didn't die is the last book.
REVIEW:
The story:
Okay so at the end of book 1, Storm Warning, we are left hanging. We know one of the five main characters was killed in the storm, but WHO?! Well we find out early on and of course it's absolutely heartbreaking. The four remaining characters are all affected by the death, and they each handle their grief in very different ways. Some shutdown and push their loved ones away. While others turn to each other for comfort. But all of them struggle with the loss and it results in a lot of hurt between all of them. All of their futures are riddled with uncertainty and at times it was almost too painful to continue reading. We are left with another cliffhanger, but not as tragic as last time. The next book is sure to bring us even more FEELS and I have no idea who everyone will end up with. To be honest I have no idea who I WANT everyone to end up with. All I know is that I just want everyone to get a happy ending (YOU HEAR ME QUINN & LEE!!)
The romance:
Let's just say the romance get so much more complicated in this book and I am a complete mess. There are so many possibilities for each of the characters and I feel the confusion that each of them feel. They've been hurt and had their hearts broken, and all of them are reluctant to trust their feelings or put their hearts on the line again. The next book is going to be very interesting to see what happens with the interwoven relationships!
The writing:
Caisey & Elizabeth seriously know how to inject MAJOR FEELS into their writing. I spent the entire book in an emotional fog. I felt all the grief, hurt and confusion that each character felt right along with them. I will be sending my therapy bills to them both.
FINAL WORD:
Path Of Destruction is filled with overwhelming grief and pain, but leaves you with a sense of hope that the future can be brighter for all the characters. The Broken Heartland series is not for faint hearted and will leave in an emotional pit of of despair, holding your breath for the next book!

REVIEW:
The story:
Boone comes from a wealthy family, but despite appearing to have had a prvilleged upbringing, all Boone really wanted was the attention and repspect of his father, a pro golfer. Boone took up goft himself and pushed himself to be the best, but after tragedy strikes, Boones left that life behind him, to live a quieter life. That is until the fiesty Mallory moves in next door and shakes his world completely.
Mallory is still coming to terms with the fact that the man she thought was her father isn't infact her biological father after all. After tracking down her real father and landing on his doorstep, she suddenly toungtied and unable to tell him the truth. She decides maybe it's best to get to know him first before revealing her identy. In the meantime, her new neighbour offers some much needed distraction from her family drama. And as sparks fly between Mallory and Boone, it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out.
The characters:
Mallory is one feisty little firecracker. She's bold and outspoken, and not afraid to have a little fun. But her life isn't all sweet and easy. Not only is she dealing with discovering her real father, she's also still affected by a nasty broken heart. Not willing to put her heart on the line again, she convinces herself she's happy with casual commitment free flings. But Boone challenges her and makes her question what she really wants.
Boone was a very mysterious character. He's quite closed off at first and very reluctant to reveal any private details to Mallory. He's been through a lot recently, and hasn't really dealt with it yet. Mallory's vibrant sassy personality brings Boone out of his self and forces him to confront his past and work towards a positive future. Both Mallory and Boone are really good influences on each other, and bring out the best in themselves.
The romance:
After getting her heart broken Mallory isn't looking for commitment. But Boone changes all that. I loved that Boone wasn't afraid to admit he didn't want a one night stand. It was refreshing to have a hero that hadn't sleep with an endless line of women to overcome his past. I really respected his attitude and the way he treated Mallory. These two had great chemistry from the beginning and it just built from there.
The writing:
This story was told in dual POV from both Mallory & Boone, and I think that worked really well. It allowed us to understand both characters motivations, in particular Boone. Since much of his past isn't revealed to Mallory until later in the book, it was important for the reader to her his perspective and have him explain what he was thinking.
FINAL WORD:
Finding You is full of sassy witty dialogue with a fun and flirty romance! The characters past brings a depth and substance creating a strong and beautifully told story.

A Fast Paced, Adrenaline Packed Romance!
REVIEW:
The story:
Wow, this book was so so much more than the blurb suggests. Piper is back in her old hometown to say goodbye to her sick mother and support her sister. But her return sets off a chain reaction of event nobody could have seen coming. 6 years earlier, after being falsely accused of setting fire to the airport hanger, Piper leaves town, not knowing Ryland was handing himself over to the police to protect her. 6 years later and her ex Ryland is not happy to see her return, still bitter over her running away. But as secrets are revealed it becomes clear that neither of them really knew the whole story of what happened all those years ago.
It's actually quite difficult to say much about the story after 42%, as something MAJOR happens that you absolutely must experience yourself!!! I actually gasped out loud I was that shocked! All I will say is that there was so much drama, mystery and passion to keep you on the edge of your seat until very last word!!
The characters:
Piper may not be the perfect girl, and she's made her fair share of mistakes. But her intentions have always been in the best interest of the people she loves. After taking care of herself for the past 6 years, it's difficult for her to trust anyone else to look out for her, but if anyone can break through her tough exterior it's Ryland.
Ryland changed a lot over the 6 years, from the shy nerdy boy in school, to the strong and confident man he is today. After having his future taken away from him, he's also bitter and and angry at the world (and Piper). But after reconnecting with Piper, we see that the sweet & caring guy is still there. He would do anything to protect Piper and her sister Hadley and it's hard not to love him for that.
Hadley, Piper's younger sister, is a fabulous secondary character, and is such an important part of this story. On the outside she's a sweet girl, who never breaks the rules, but she's been through a lot. It soon becomes clear that her bright smile is hiding a lot of painful secrets and she most certainly has a story to tell!
The romance:
Who doesn't enjoy a good lover's reunited romance?! After fall in love in high school and making plans for their future, being torn apart was rough on both of them. But after their initial shock of seeing each other again, they quickly realise that the chemistry is still there and stronger than ever. There was a Romeo & Juliet vibe to their romance, with both of them willing to sacrifice everything for the other.
The writing:
Elizabeth has taken some bold chances by writing a story that pushes the boundaries of what's right and wrong. I was constantly asking myself what I would do in their situation. The intensity of the story was overwhelming and really pushes to plot forward at fast pace. There was certainly not dull moment is this story!
FINAL WORD:
Filled with sweet, sexy and heart stopping moments Where There's Smoke is a fast paced, adrenaline packed romance!!!

The glow of his suntanned skin led me to believe that he’d been hiding out somewhere sunny as opposed to what I’d assumed, which was that he must have crawled under a rock and died, or fell off the face of the earth. Why else would he have just completely disappeared from my life? Everything that had happened the night of Garrett’s accident flashed in my mind. I couldn’t even begin to form a complete sentence. Instead, I pushed out of the booth and looked directly in the eyes I’d tried to forget. “Don’t,” was all I could come up with before I ran out of the diner. “Alyssa, please.” He followed me out the door. “Can’t we just talk?” “No!” I yelled out, not breaking my stride as I walked across the street. His hands stopped mine before I could pull the car door open and escape. The contact of our skin sent a shock up my arm. “Please.” I turned to see the desperation in his eyes. He pulled his lip between his teeth and brushed a stray hair from my cheek. His hand rested on my cheek. I caught myself turning my face into his strong, warm hand and quickly pulled away. As much as I wanted to fight it, everything that I’d felt for him was still there. I still wanted him to touch me. To kiss me. The guilt and anger that accompanied the desire was too much. “I can’t do this, Jesse.” I pulled my face from his and quickly sunk behind the wheel of my car. I drove away, leaving him alone on the street. I wasn’t ready to talk to him. To ask him the string of questions that had been running through my head for months. To explain my erratic behavior the night before. I wasn’t ready for any of it. So, I did the only thing I could think of to avoid the entire situation. I went home, opened the desk drawer and retrieved my new foolproof method of not dealing with it.

I had called her first thing that morning to tell her that I was heading to Los Angeles to produce Sadie's album, and within the hour she was knocking on my front door to offer her insight and suggest what was and wasn't acceptable Hollywood attire. “Same way I pull everything off,” I answered quickly. “I don't think making her fall in love with you is going to work this time, Nick.” “Seriously?” I smirked. “Now you're doubting my abilities with women?” “Not women in general. Just this one.” “She's no different than the rest, Rae.” “Yes she is,” she disagreed. “How?” “Well, for starters, she's like the most famous person on the planet. You're not going to be able to make her fall for your charms, record the songs you want her to, and then just bolt when it's over. She'll run your name through the mud and people will listen. So it will have all been for nothing if you can never get another job.” “What makes you think I'm going to bolt? We might actually fall in love.” “Are you capable of that?” Ouch. That hurt. “I'm just saying that you might want to consider convincing her in a way that makes her not think she has a future with you. Nothing is worse than a scorned woman, Nick. Look at how Brynn took it. She told everyone that would listen how big of an asshole you were. It's a wonder you made it through graduation without being murdered.” Brynn was a mistake. She had run a couple cons with me a few years ago when Lila went and fell in love with my brother. I should have known better than to sleep with her, but dammit she was good looking. Not to mention a hellcat in the sack. I had needs. Sue me. It wasn't my fault that she hadn’t understood our arrangement. Run cons and have sex.
